Satish, 33, is from India, where he studied Marketing Management as a postgraduate major at IMT Ghaziabad. His ambition is to reach a leadership position in Marketing for AkzoNobel's Decorative Paints business within 10 years. "The program gives the opportunity to work in different countries and different businesses within AkzoNobel. To my mind, this diverse experience will be critical for future roles involving leading people and businesses. It also gives me high visibility among global leaders within the organization, and with hard work and the right timing, I hope to make the most of it."

Satish has completed three projects as part of the program, including a nine-month posting in the USA. In his first placement, he led the implementation of Integrated Business Planning and Quality systems at Decorative Paints India. Next, as Business Improvement Project Lead for our Coil Coatings team in the USA, he focused on using Lean Six Sigma principles to drive excellence in manufacturing processes. Third, he worked on designing an Information Management Strategy for our Retail business in India.

Throughout the process, Satish says he has greatly appreciated the support of his mentor, a senior leader within AkzoNobel. "My mentor has been like a lighthouse, constantly reminding me of the broader lessons I could get out of this program, and helping me steer back to the right course when I started drifting."
